A one day rigging course for individuals who do not work at height
Aimed at technicians involved with lighting, sound, video and exhibition stands who attach their equipment to rigging or hoists, operate hoists or control a lifting operation.
This is not a course for those who assemble rigging for up-riggers.
Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- The law, what Regulations need to be complied with and why
- Definition of lifting equipment and lifting accessories
- Lifting plans and risk assessment
- Pre-use checks to lifting accessories
- How to operate chain motors singly and in groups
- Attaching loads – how to use roundslings, steels, shackles and rings
- Lifting and lowering safely with chain motors
- Detaching loads
- Packing and storing equipment
Important information: This is not intended to be a ‘competent person’ course.
Training of short duration cannot be considered as capable of producing competence in personnel. Competence can only be achieved over time by the combination of gaining experience, developing skill and building knowledge. As such this short course cannot be considered a finite achievement.

If you haven’t paid 28 days before the course, the place may be given to someone else.
Places are limited to 6 participants and courses are run subject to a minimum number of bookings; where necessary this is finalised 28 days in advance of the scheduled course.
Cancellations must be made in writing, by fax or e mail with at least 14 days notice. Failure to do so means we will only refund 50% of the fee to cover the costs we incur. We will re-book paid up customers once without making a cancellation charge. Course cost does not include accommodation or meals.
We cannot take responsibility for cancellations caused by events outside our control, such as strike action or through severe weather. Fees are generally not refunded; we transfer bookings to the next available course
